Activities

Dragon Boat
All teams exemplify professionalism and passion in dragon boat racing, supported by coaching with diverse expertise, from the highest levels of USDBF certifications to individuals with many decades of experience. Many of the New York teams have had members proudly represent Team USA in the IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championships (Worlds) and crews compete at the Club Crew World Championships (CCWC) in all divisions, bringing home numerous achievements.

Indoor Paddling
Recognizing the importance of both land and water training, teams embrace a well-rounded approach to performance, excelling in indoor paddling erg competitions such as The New York Indoor Regatta.

Outrigger Canoe
Outrigger canoeing in NYC combines an ancient Polynesian tradition with a gritty, urban backdrop. Paddlers can navigate the currents of the Hudson and East Rivers, often timing their strokes against the silhouette of the Empire State Building or passing directly under the Brooklyn Bridge.
Many of the teams listed offer opportunities to paddle in an OC-1 or OC-6 to supplement their dragon boat training while also honing their skills for competitions around the nation. Today, outrigger canoeing in NYC is more than just a water sport—it’s a community-driven activity that emphasizes teamwork, cultural appreciation, and connection to the city’s waterfront.
