Greg Chang – New York Dragon Boat Alliance Inc. (NYDBA)

I am a former IT programmer and IT Manager. After receiving my degree from New York University, I was hired as a programmer for a major investment bank on Wall Street. After several years programming, I switched fields and became a system analyst. Eventually I worked my way up to become an IT Manager, handling multiple data centers across the United States.

I began dragon boating at Flushing Meadow Lake in 1994 with a community team, the Rebels. The following year, I joined Metro Athletic Dragons (MAD) at the World’s Fair Marina. I spent roughly a decade with MAD – first as a paddler, then as a steersperson and eventually part of their management.  As my racing days waned, I started getting involved with governing politics. I was elected as the first vice president for the Eastern Region Dragonboat Association (ERDBA).  In the same time period, I became a certified USDBF official and began my first dragon boat racing club, Azumi Racing.  Shortly afterwards, I was introduced to event (festival) production. I began traveling throughout the east coast working for multiple production companies as a steersperson/coach. Over the course of time, I was managing entire events.

In 2014, I was hired by Bucks Country Dragonboat Association (BCDBA) as their Head Coach for their competitive program, Fusion. Multiple regional titles evolved into multiple CCNC titles and WCCC appearances. My time was split at this point between the Fusion program and event production. During the pandemic, I retired as Head Coach for BCDBA and began focusing exclusively on event production.

In 2024, I established a new startup named iDBPro, a company focused on event (festival) production and dragon boat logistics. Today when asked what I do (for work) I simply respond “Dragon Boating”.

I look forward to working with everyone to secure a future for us at World’s Fair Marina.
