Eugene Wong Bio – New York Dragon Boat Alliance, Inc.
I bring decades of professional expertise and community leadership to my role as Treasurer for the New York Dragon Boat Alliance. With a background in project management, education, and nonprofit leadership, I am passionate about supporting and advancing the dragon boat community in New York.
Professionally, I am a Certified Welding Inspector and Educator, an OSHA-certified instructor, and a trainer in rigging, hoisting, and business management. My work in vocational training has helped many individuals gain the skills they need to secure meaningful employment. As an Industrial Project Manager, I’ve honed my abilities in organization and financial oversight, which I now apply to my role with the Alliance.
My commitment to community service runs deep. At the Chinatown Manpower Project, I served as Chairman, Vice-Chair, and Secretary on the Board of Directors, securing funding and creating training opportunities for immigrants and refugees. With Lions Club International, I had the privilege of leading fundraising and disaster relief initiatives while also developing leadership training programs as President of the NY Wall Street Lions Club and District Governor of NYS Multiple District R-2.
Since 1994, I’ve been an active member of the dragon boat community, coaching and competing internationally and earning numerous accolades, including 13 trophies at the 2011 NYC Dragon Boat Championships. I am also a certified official with both the US Dragon Boat Federation and the International Dragon Boat Federation, which reflects my deep dedication to the sport’s growth and excellence.
As Treasurer of the New York Dragon Boat Alliance, I am excited to use my skills and experience to ensure the organization’s financial stability and success, supporting its mission to foster teamwork, cultural inclusivity, and the growth of dragon boat racing in our community.
